‘Fools’ is the debut EP from 17-year-old pop-folk tinged songstress Lauren Aquilina. Released independently on October 22nd exclusively on iTunes, ‘Fools’ is a frank and honest exploration of Lauren’s musical and personal journey to-date.
This release marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the half-Maltese/ half-British Bristol born teenager, which features 4 self-penned tracks written over the course of the past year. It details the struggles faced in the pursuit of dreams, the weight of expectation and loves gained and lost along the way.
“EP pre-orders alone were enough to see the EP rise to reach number one in the Maltese iTunes chart overtaking Adele and Coldplay amongst others,” Lauren’s management team said.
Lauren visits Gozo once every year during the summer holidays, something she has always done since she the day she was born. Although Lauren’s family live in different parts of Malta as well as the UK, they all meet in Gozo once a year and hire a holiday home to spend some of the summer together.
Lauren’s management team said that “in little over a year Lauren has made an impressive entrance, having amassed over 2 million plays on her YouTube channel as well as boasting over 11,000 Facebook likes. Having also played a series of sold-out support shows the future is well and truly a promising one for the teenage writer.
“The video for the title track from ‘Fools’ has to-date amassed over 40,000 views in its first 2 days online, and can be viewed on the link at the bottom of this page.
“Supporters include Ellie Goulding, Jake Bugg, Jamie Foxx and Mumford & Sons, all of whom have been quick to praise the teenage writer. ‘Fools’ marks the first time supporters will be able to own original material written, composed and performed by the 17 year old.
“We’ve been inundated with requests to come and play a show in Malta and are currently arranging a show for the beginning of next year.” Lauren’s management team concluded.
Lauren follows the release of her EP with her first headline UK tour early next year.
