《丑闻笔记》：希芭是伦敦圣乔治中学新进的艺术老师。美丽又属于上流阶层的她，在这一群暮气沈沈、早已失去教学热情的教师群中，宛如一道清新的活水。对于41岁的希芭而言，教书工作是让她逃离正为青春期苦闷的儿女，以及年龄差距多达二十岁的无趣丈夫的最佳出口。


希芭的同事芭芭拉，个性刻薄又伶牙俐齿，却对希芭有一股莫名的好感。某次芭芭拉为她排解课堂上的争吵事件，两人友谊自此开始滋长。然而，芭芭拉却意外发现，希芭与一名15岁男学生史蒂芬的不伦师生恋…她于是成了希芭的秘密守护者，两人关系更进一步成为知己好友。希芭对芭芭拉无话不说，芭芭拉也将这段禁忌恋情的细节，钜细靡遗地详载在日记中。她们的友情随着芭芭拉与日俱增的独占欲逐渐变了调，而此时芭芭拉却发现这个能使希芭失去工作、家人，甚至还得吃牢饭的秘密，是她操纵希芭的最佳武器…。
