Powerman 5000是一支1990年成立于波士顿的另类金属乐队，想要了解这支乐队，我们还要从乐队队长兼主唱的Spider One说起。

Spider One原名Michael Cummings，是我们非常熟悉的另一位金属狂人Rob Zombie的弟弟(Rob Zombie原名Robert Cummings)，有的时候Spider One也自称为Spider Zombie。在Powerman 5000的歌曲中，我们会听到Spider One嗓音与他哥哥真的太像了！
1990年Spider One放弃了艺术学校，花钱买了一个非常便宜的四轨录音室和一些设备，以MC Spider的名字录制了一些歌曲，并且在当地取得了成功。于是他组建了这支Powerman 5000乐队，曲风以金属为主。1991年，吉他手Adam 12加入乐队，这对乐队产生重要影响。乐队在1994年和1995年分别录制了两张独立唱片True Force和The Blood Splat Rating System，这两张专辑同样在当地取得成功。
1997年，乐队与Dreamworks Records签约，并且以Mega!! Kung Fu Radio的名字重新发行了The Blood Splat Rating System这张专辑。1999年的专辑Tonight the Stars Revolt!终于使乐队获得了更大的成功。专辑中包含了像"When Worlds Collide", "Nobody's Real",和"Supernova Goes Pop"这样的热门单曲，最终卖掉了超过100万张。
