On the day "Oblivion Beckons" was released, Byzantine announced they had split-up. This split had actually occurred months before hand. While it was on good terms, it happened as a result of internal conflicts within the band, and the conclusion of their contract with Prosthetic Records. The band reformed in November 2009, for three shows to be performed in March 2010. Despite selling out all three venues, there was no official reunion in sight. In August 2010, Byzantine decided to come back together without guitarist Tony Rohrbough. Band friend, Brian "Hendo" Henderson, took the reigns as lead guitarist; however this new line-up only performed 3 shows before splitting once more. Byzantine reunited once more in early 2012, with Tony back in the band, to record a new album, to be released in February 2013.
