2发展历史
My Dying Bride组建于90年6月，最初成员 Calvin, Aaron, Andy和Rick。在6个月的热情排练后，他们的传奇小样《Towards the Sinister》已经达到了一个难以置信的高度。之后，一张7"的单曲由法国当时的小厂牌Listenable发行。这张名为《God Is Alone》的7"小样的良好发行吸引了大厂牌Peaceville的注意，这使他们在成立一年后就快速得以签约。
3成就
My Dying Bride（我垂死的新娘）可能是受众最多的Doom Metal（厄运金属）乐队了，他们的音乐优美而哀伤，乐队中的每一位几乎都参加过别的死亡乐队的排练和录音工作，可见他们的地位和技术是多么的令人信服，最出名的要算乐队中的小提琴手Martin Powell了，是他给早期的MDB带来了凄美的感觉，只有在他的琴声中，仿佛有一个鲜血溅满婚纱的新娘，嘴角带着点点血丝在向你微笑！乐队自从1990年建立,直至今天,一直在探讨Doom Metal新的表达方式，如果说大多数的Doom乐队活在Black Sabbath（黑色安息曰）的阴影中，那么MDB要算前卫厄运金属的范畴了。
4作品点评
Symphonaire Infernus Et Spera Empyrium
虽然初出茅庐，但作品已经非常的深沉，主题曲长达10分钟，已经成为了至今仍为人称道的经典之作，小提琴贯穿于曲目的每一个角落，这与以往金属乐队加入古典音乐乐器主要用来铺垫气氛有所不同，与吉他融合的非常好，所以这张EP一出就给人耳目一新的感觉。主唱Aaron Stainthorpe Death vocal也很到位，声音低沉微有刺音，是我听过这么多主唱中比较喜欢的。
As The Flower Withers
MDB的首张专辑，曲风还偏向 death metal。虽然刚刚出道，但精彩的编曲， Aaron 有特色的怒吼，再加上小提琴的参与，使他们的出现这么独树一帜，已经有很多歌迷开始喜欢这种哀愁的死亡金属乐了。专辑中的"The return of the Beautiful" 亦属上乘佳作。
The Trash of naked Limbs
经过一连串的巡演，他们变得更加成熟的乐队。这是乐队得第二张EP，开始加入键盘成分，一曲Le Cerf Malade极尽营造氛围的手法，让人领略了Martin的Ambient Feel键盘技法。值得一提的是鼓手Rick在专辑录制过程中太过投入，将手腕弄伤，乐队被迫取消了随后的欧洲巡回演出。
Turn Loose The Swans
这是一张被赞誉为Doom Metal的完美作品，编曲非常的有特点，速度并不慢，这与以往的Doom Metal是截然不同的，在“Your River”Aaron 用了 clean vocal 和 death vocal相结合的方式演绎，可见其唱功之深厚。专辑中也有很多哥特金属成分的成功运用，这都要归功于被死亡金属界誉为“哥特艺术先锋”的Martin，他的小提琴和钢琴的演奏简直无懈可击。专辑取得了巨大的成功，许多著名乐器厂牌与他们签下了赞助合同，他们终于彻底冲出了地下，事业走上了颠峰。
Am The Bloody Earth
正当他们一致被看好时，他们却在很长一段时间里没有出现在舞台上，被舆论抨击后，他们推出了这张EP,同时为下一张专辑收集素材。曲目依然优美，键盘的成分加大，歌词也想散文诗一样，文法流畅，语句优美，淡淡的黑色让人由衷的感到低调的魅力。
The Angel And The Dark River
在万众期待中，1995年5月8曰，Peaceville为他们推出了第三张正式专辑，可叫那些极端歌迷失望的是，Aaron 放弃了?death vocal ，专辑演唱全部采用“清喉”演唱，专辑中的经常有大段的做气氛的段落，让人觉得华丽但有些做作。随后他们参加了荷兰著名的死亡金属音乐节---“Dynamo Open Air”的演出活动，并适时推出了他们的EP合辑“Trinity”，随后在Iron Maiden的支持下在英国和欧洲巡演，掀起了有一轮Doom Metal的热潮。
Like Gods Of The Sun
1996年，他们又推出了新专辑，让人失望的是专辑仍旧延续了上张专辑的风格，全部使用清喉演唱。但专辑中的音乐还是很优秀的，violin 和音乐的融合很到位，吉他的音色比上张专辑更重，时时的柔美章节让人又回到他们初期的回忆。这一年他们同另一支大牌Doom Metal乐队共同巡演，1997年和Sentenced巡演，都获得了成功。终于在乐坛大哥级人物Ronnie James Dio（原Black Sabbath、Dio乐队主唱）的支持下，第一次越过大洋来到了美国演出，演出空前成功，但不幸的是演出后期鼓手Rick染上了怪病，已经无法登台，不但后期演出取消，Rick也永远的离开了MDB。
再次的长时间沉默后，又有新的成员加入：鼓手Shoun Steels和吉他手Hamish Glencross（Shoun参加过著名的Solstice和Anathema），另外还有临时键盘手Johnny Maudlin，1999年9月，他们推出了这张专辑，风格回归到了Turn Loose The Swans和The Angel And The Dark River之间的风格。但是否还能重振昔曰雄风，我们只能拭目以待了。
Songs of Darkness，Words of Light
My Dying Bride自90年建立至今在人们心中建立起独树一帜的风格，以我垂死的新娘为灵魂寓意，凄婉的唱腔，悲凉冰冷的小提琴成为My Dying Bride的代名词。对于Doom Metal，我可以说是几乎未涉及过，只听过这张专辑和其他零星的一些歌，所以不敢评论什么。只是我觉得这张专辑太好听了，于是写下感想，强力推荐给大家！
我觉得这绝对是一张经过精心雕琢的专辑，刚看到这张盘时，立刻被其封面所震撼：阴森的树林深处，一个伤痕累累的雌性“生物”在痛苦的呻吟，她的头部的上一半已然消失，翅膀已无力带她起飞，她不得不在这种痛苦的状态下慢慢死去......封面完全使用的是灰棕色的格调，更是将这阴冷恐怖的气氛渲染到极致！接着，专辑的名称也让我着迷----《Songs of Darkness，Words of Light》，这就好像中国的对联一样，对仗工整，读起来也很上口，很有气势！专辑从头到尾充溢着黑暗，毁灭的气氛，主要以音乐的演奏来体现这阴暗的氛围，主唱的声音较小，但是又绝对不可缺少，所有的一切听起来都是那么的自然，那么的舒服。我总觉得这样黑暗又婉转的旋律，在睡前听再合适不过，可是每当我将它放进CD机时，我却只能在床上辗转反侧，久久不能入睡......
个人觉得专辑以《The Wreckage of My Flesh》这首歌作为开头，再合适不过了！歌曲上来便是一阵猛烈的风声，吹得令人窒息。接着，背景残酷的喊叫声，着实令人感到恐怖。然后，低音重吉他的进入，更是让歌曲显的低沉。主唱就是和着这种气势宏大的音乐，像朗诵诗歌般的，慢慢地述说着“Nothing said is new/ Nothin said is true”，令人绝望！而“Calm is the air/ Still is the sea/ The valley of death keeps calling me”更是让我感到死亡的来临！当歌曲进入到5:05秒时，所有的演奏逐渐消失，取而代之的，是宏大的管风琴的演奏（我觉得是管风琴）。但是到5:20时，其他乐器又加了进来，但是管风琴仍然在背后演奏着，持续着这场厄运之旅。虽然中间的那段管风琴独奏，只有短短的15秒，但在我脑海里，却久久挥之不去！就让我仿佛置身于毫无一丝灯光的教堂，静静等待死神的来临......
《The Scarlet Garden》这首歌上来便是一段低沉的吉他演奏，然后是铿锵的鼓点，接着才是主唱的歌声！背景音乐令我仿佛置身于一场发生在黄昏的残酷的战争中，看着四周尸横遍野，觉得阴森恐怖......歌曲最后那几声有力的鼓点，仿佛在敲击我沉重的心灵！《Catherine Blake》这首歌，主唱的声音大了许多，不再像第一首歌那么朦胧，而是有些激烈，有些狂躁，仿佛在发泄内心的仇恨！《My Wine In Silence》这首歌，刚开始，是一段婉转悠扬的演奏，与其他歌不同的是，从开始一直到2:42，歌曲一直充溢着一种淡淡的哀伤，但是没有其他歌曲那种毁灭的气氛，仅仅是黑暗和哀伤。缓慢的旋律，柔和但绝不轻松的旋律，令我沉醉！但是当到了2:42时，随着残忍的声音的进入，那种毁灭的气氛再次出现，并且这种气氛在3:25时，随着吉他的加入，上升到了极点！这是整张专辑中最悲伤的一首歌，每当我听得时候，都有一种想哭的感觉，深深沉默，无需多言！《The Prize of Beauty》这首歌以狂躁的演奏开始，但是刚狂躁不久，又安静下来，如此反复了几次，才真正进入了歌曲的主题！主唱沙哑的喊叫，好像有种魔力，噪音很大，但反而令我安静！感觉很好！
《The Blue Lotus》，听说蓝莲花是最神秘而浪漫的花朵，在古埃及学说中论蓝莲花为最崇高的，象征着长寿、生命，许多神庙与坟墓的墙壁上都会看到蓝色莲花的浮雕或者壁画。而这首歌也同样具有神秘色彩，无论是主唱厚重的演唱，还是略带失真的吉他，都让人感觉神秘不可捉摸！尤其是中间2:23到2:43那段solo，更是让我仿佛置身于古老而神秘的梦幻王国一般！《And My Fury Stands Ready》上来先是一段缥缈的钢琴声，仿佛来自遥远的天际，我很想再多听听这钢琴声，可是它立刻便消失了，取而代之的是低沉的吉他，还有主唱沙哑的喊叫！《A Doomed Lover》这首歌作为结尾，更是阴沉至极，慢版的演奏，厚重沙哑的主唱，再佩着背景“嗡嗡”的声音，将我带到这场厄运之旅的终点，但是我仍然在床上辗转，无法入睡......
