Log
The album was transcribed on a Technics SL-1200MK5 turntable with custom modifications by KAB Electro-Acoustics using an Audio-Techinca AT1500MLX cartridge with a Microline stylus. The preamp was a Velleman 8021 Control Amplifier. Amplification by about 24 dB and Analog to digital conversion at 24bit/96kHz was with an E-MU-0202. Recording was to a Sony VAIO desktop computer with a 3.0 GHz Pentium IV processor using Cool Edit Pro 2.1 at 32bit/96kHz, floating. Extra "silence" at the beginning, end and between sides was trimmed in Cool Edit Pro. A couple of dozen clicks were removed using "Fill Single Click Now" in Cool Edit Pro. No other editing or noise reduction was done.
Cues were dropped and named and the file saved with dithering enabled as a 24-bit 96kHz type 1 wav. QueListTool v1.7 was used to extract and save the image cue file. Metadata was added to the image cue file using foobar. The image file was split into tracks, compressed to FLAC (v1.2.1) and tagged in foobar2000. The FLACs were then decoded and resulting WAVs compared to original uncompressed wav files using MD5 checksums. No differences were found. M3u files were created with mp3tag. The multiple wav cue was created with CUETools (www.moitah.net).

The volume of this pressing is the lowest of any I have ever ripped. I turned up the volume knobs on the E-Mu up to about +24dB, which increased the average rms power of the left channel of track one by 11.42dB. (In order to make this comparison I recorded Track 1 both with and without amplification.) Due to the amplification the surface noise was may be noticeable between tracks. However, the tracks sound great.
