This pearl is provided by ManWhoCan, thank you friend!
This is Donovan's first LP, came out on the market and was the first album I heard from him. You understand that I've a deep affection.
Certainly am young age understood the similarities between Donovan and Dylan, but tell me do you think that any reputable artist was not inspired by other renowned artist? I believe that every great artist has received some influence.
This Donovan's LP is a gem, and it's a pity that didn't follow this path of country-folk (without ignoring his brilliant psychedelic legacy.)
So, ladies and gentlemen, I leave you with Donovan.

About
This LP is thanks to the kind sponsorship of dottk, thanks a lot!
Donovan's second album found the Scottish folkie in possession of his own voice, a style of earnest, occasionally mystical musings indebted neither to Woody Guthrie nor Bob Dylan.
True, Fairytale's highlights -- "Sunny Goodge Street," "Jersey Thursday," and "The Summer Day Reflection Song" -- use a sense of impressionism pioneered by Dylan, but Donovan flipped Dylan's weariness on its head. His persona is the wistful hippie poet, continually moving on down the road, but never bitter about the past. The folkie "Colours," already a hit before the album's release, is also here (though without Donovan's harmonica). A few of his songs are inconsequential and tossed-off ("Oh Deed I Do," "Circus of Sour"), but a few of these ("Candy Man" especially) succeed too, thanks to Donovan's effervescent delivery.

About
This LP is thanks to the kind sponsorship of NikPis, thanks a lot!
Fairytale is Donovan's second album. It was first released in the United Kingdom on October 22, 1965 through Pye Records (catalog number NPL 18128). The U.S. version of Fairytale was released by Hickory Records (catalog number LPM 127 [monaural] / LPS 127 [stereo]) in November 1965 with a slightly different set of songs. Peter Eden and Geoff Stephens produced the album.
Fairytale finds Donovan evolving his styles further towards British folk, especially on songs such as "Summer Day Reflection Song" and "Jersey Thursday". "Sunny Goodge Street" foreshadows the jazzy feel and descriptions of life in urban London that Donovan would continue to explore over the next two years. For release in the United States, Hickory Records added a cover of Buffy Sainte-Marie's "Universal Soldier" and removed a cover of Bert Jansch's "Oh Deed I Do".

Previously I talked about to the country-folk era from Donovan (an era that I revere), and which are 3 LPs exactly: "What's Bin Did And What's Bin Hid" (1965), "Fairytale" (1965) and that I present today "Universal Soldier" (1967), which is not exactly an official LP, because is a compilation of various singles that appeared between his two first albums.
And it is really interesting because there are different versions of their well known folk hits. For example, here appears one version of "Catch the Wind" accompanied by an
String orchestra, also the first take of "Colours" monophonic with harmonica. A very good album, is one of my favorites.
Ah! Put attention to the interpretation of a song by Bert Jansch "Do you hear me now", really good.

About
Rock music's first two-LP box set, A Gift from a Flower to a Garden overcomes its original shortcomings and stands out as a prime artefact of the flower-power era that produced it. The music still seems a bit fey, and overall more spacey than the average Moody Blues album of this era, but the sheer range of subjects and influences make this a surprisingly rewarding work. Essentially two albums recorded simultaneously in the summer of 1967, the electric tracks include Jack Bruce among the session players. The acoustic tracks represent an attempt by Donovan to get back to his old sound and depart from the heavily electric singles ("Sunshine Superman," etc.) and albums he'd been doing -- it is folkier and bluesier (in an English folk sense) than much of his recent work. Bruce Eder, allmusic.

About
‘Donovan In Concert’ features a 1967 concert recorded at the Anaheim Convention Center, just a few weeks after his Hollywood Bowl show. The band is a quintet with Harold McNair on flute and saxophone, Loren Newkirk on piano, Andy Tronosco on upright bass, Tony Carr on drums, and John Carr on bongos. Donovan plays acoustic guitar throughout. The hippy mysticism and flower power poet is everywhere here. This isn't rock star excess at all, but an organic, drenched-in-sunshine concert full of gentleness with a premium on good vibes. Donovan was already an expert at getting audiences to eat out of his hand, and here that happens in spades. ‘Donovan In Concert’ is one of the great live albums of the '60s. Thom Jurek, allmusic.

About
In March 1969 (too soon to include "Atlantis"), Epic and Pye released Donovan's Greatest Hits, which included four songs previously only available as singles – "Epistle To Dippy", "There is a Mountain", "Jennifer Juniper" and "Lalйna", as well as re-recorded versions of "Colours" and "Catch The Wind" (which had been unavailable to Epic because of Donovan's contractual problems) and specially-mixed stereo versions of "Sunshine Superman" and "Season of the Witch". It became the most successful album of his career; it reached #4 in the US, became a million-selling gold record, and stayed on the Billboard album chart for more than a year. Wikipedia.

About
Although it was a disappointing seller and signalled the start of Donovan's commercial decline, Open Road could have been a new beginning for the singer. Stripping down to a Celtic rock format that managed to be hard and direct, yet still folkish, Donovan turned out a series of excellent songs, notably the minor hit "Riki Tiki Tavi," that seemed to show him moving toward a roots-oriented sound of considerable appeal. William Ruhlmann, allmusic.
After splitting with Mickie Most during the Barabajagal sessions, Donovan decided to move back to the UK against the wishes of his management, who most likely objected due to the heavy taxation in the country and the distance from the American market. There he began recording and producing the tracks that would form his next studio album. Donovan's production was much rougher and more organic than Mickie Most's cleanly polished production on Donovan's hits of the 1960s.
During these sessions, Donovan assembled the band Open Road with drummer John Carr, keyboardist Mike O'Neil and bass and guitar player Mike Thomson. The band played a style that was dubbed Celtic rock by Donovan. Many of the songs on Open Road ponder the negative side of industrialization and the lost peacefulness of a previous time. While some of this had been touched on in Donovan's previous work, this is the first album where the topic is expounded at length.
After the release of this album, Donovan left Open Road to focus on his family and finish recording his next album, H.M.S. Donovan. After losing Donovan and subsequently Mike O'Neil, Mike Thompson and John Carr reformed Open Road with Barry Husband on guitar and vocals and Simon Lanzon on keyboards. They recorded and released one more album in 1971 (Windy Daze) before disbanding. Open Road subsequently became part of Donovan's canon, and the band Open Road was largely forgotten. Wikipedia.

About
Anyone who likes the Donovan of “Sunshine Superman” or “Mellow Yellow” will probably want to ignore this album — but anyone who liked the Donovan of “Colours,” “Turquoise,” or “Poor Cow,” or Gift From a Flower to a Garden, will have to track it down, because they’ll find it essential. One has to give Donovan a lot of credit for attempting a release like HMS Donovan in 1971, although it never came close to charting at the time of its release. The drugged-out hippie era that had spawned trippy folk-based albums such as Gift From a Flower to a Garden was long past, and acoustic folk recordings were considered passe, yet here was Donovan setting words by Lewis Carroll, Thora Stowell, Ffrida Wolfe, Agnes Grozier Herbertson, Lucy Diamond, Edward Lear, Eugene Field, William Butler Yeats, Natalie Joan, and Thomas Hood, among others, to what were often hauntingly beautiful melodies, mostly strummed on a guitar. What’s more, it just about all works perfectly, once one gets past the tape-effect tricks and other silliness of the opening track, “The Walrus and the Carpenter.” Spawned at a time when the singer/songwriter was about to become a father, the album has a decidedly playful tone, even more so than its obvious predecessor, For Little Ones. Lovely as that record was, there are also long stretches of HMS Donovan that have far prettier melodies, arrangements, and accompaniment, played at more attractive tempos. The playing here, which is mostly just Donovan’s solo guitar with maybe a string bass and organ, and an unnamed female singer or two backing him on a few tracks, is crisper and more focused (along with the recording), and the tunes are seldom short of gorgeous, whether written by Donovan or simply his arrangements of traditional folk melodies. HMS Donovan marked the singer’s last venture of this kind, into his mid-/late-’60s folk style, or into folk-style children’s songs, and it was the last of his albums to be characterized by whimsy. “Lord of the Dance” (written by Sydney Carter and utilizing a melody that Americans may know better as “Simple Gifts”), “Queen Mab,” and “Celia of the Seals” are worth the price of admission by themselves. Bruce Eder, Allmusic.
