About
Garage classic. Their version of “Rack My Mind” is better than the Yardbirds’! I wish I could share an original,
but… this is the first (official) reissue. There’s a counterfeit from the 80’s (I heard it once, but I don’t
remember how it sounded), and the EVA French reissue is semi-legit and has poor sound quality (like most EVA
records).
The back cover reads “All selections are analog recordings which have been digitally remastered from original
master tapes”, but this is not a bad digital remaster (no stupid lows/highs boost). It is much smoother than Get
Hip reissue (from 1999). The K-TEL version includes cool bonus tracks. Sundazed re-released this LP in 2013, but I
haven’t heard it.

Great & rare garage/psych LP. The moody & extended version of the Zombies’ “She’s Not There” is sooooo nice. And the cover of Jeff Beck’s “Tallyman” is also worth hearing.
The Get Hip 1999 reissue sounds good, but the original is smoother and has greater stereo separation

The Litter are best known for their Pebbles “hit” “Action Woman”. Like many mid-60’s band, by the end of the
decade, their music changed from garage to ballsy hard-rock (more MC5 than Zep/Sabbath). The result is really good,
except for “Future Of The Past”, which lasts way too long and includes the predictable -sigh- drums solo. VERY
heavy cover of “Little Red Book”, miles away from Love version. Quiet tracks are excellent too (“Silly People”,
“Breakfast At Gardenson’s”). This LP has been recently reissued on vinyl on Lilith label. Stay away from this crap.

Garage-психоделик коллектив из Миннеаполиса. Одна из наиболее популярных периферийных групп , сумевшая вырваться из местных рамок благодаря новаторскому звучанию. Коллектив собрался из осколков двух
американских групп, The Victors и The Tabs. Первый же сингл Action Woman, с агрессивным звучанием и "рваным" вокалом стал популярным по обе стороны Атлантики и до сих пор считается примером "гаражной" классики.
В общем, заметна ориентация на "британский саунд", что ярко проявляется не только в музыкальных ходах, но и в активном использовании каверов на известные композиции английских групп. В шестидесятых они выпустили три отличных альбома, стиль которых колебался между психоделией и хардом.
