When I bought this album I had no idea the original recording was made in 1982 on a digital 2 track recorder. I freaked a bit when I opened up the box & read it. “What a waste of money” was the 1st thing that came into my mind.
Things weren’t as bad as I initially taught. Even though one can hear the fact this is an early digital recording it’s not a bad one. One could debate the fact if these recordings should be released on SACD, but I’m pretty happy with this one. The music really does it for me.
Sound is pretty good & the music is great, which makes this a good SACD to own. DMP always knew what they were doing even in the early Digital age. That’s probably why the disc does sound great even though it was recorded digitally in the early 80’s.

Yeah – this disc sounds danm good. I owned this, & many other, early DMP recordings. The music is great progressive jazz that typically starts with a simple theme & builds/slams into more complex refrains. It was recorded as well as it could have been in the early 80s. It’s a very heavy studio album – no live audience in this 1. The tech of the times is slightly discernible in the upper registers which makes the hi-hat a sound a bit fake. Other than that, not bad. There is tons of dynamic range: if you like slam you’ll like this album. Lot’s of 2nd generation synth work too.
A classic.
