Rođen u Zagrebu, Ratko Zjača je kao mladić privučen zvukom Jimija Hendrixa, ali i J.S.Bacha i L. Beethovena. U Nizozemskoj je studirao jazz gitaru, kompoziciju i indijsku klasičnu glazbu – i to na Konzervatoriju u Rotterdamu nakon čega je glazbeno obrazovanje nastavio i na University School of Music u New Yorku. Pohađao je majstorska predavanja poznatih gitarista, primjerice Joea Passa, Jima Halla, Pata Methenyja, Mikea Sterna, Boba Brookmeyera i Johna Abercrombiea, a danas je u Sloveniji, Nizozemskoj, Japanu, Francuskoj, Hrvatskoj i Sjedinjenim Američkim Državama i sam poznat kao traženi predavač sviranja gitare i gitare bez pragova.

After the success of the album “Life on Earth” released last year with Antonio Sanchez, Ratko recorded a new album in Italy, “Light in the World” with 9 new original compositions, with Stefano Bedetti, Renato Chicco and this time featuring on drums the great John Riley.
The collaboration between four outstanding artists forms a peerless combination of sax, guitar, organ and drums. The result is stunning in terms of sound and arrangement experimented with rhythmic ideas, texture and space impressed by the artists’ enthusiasm, passion, intensity and warmth. An inspiring, enjoyable, powerhouse of original compositions and standards.
