The journey of Birth, Life and Death appear familiar in almost all known phenomena. Hush Mortal Core is a surrealist exploration of the archetypal journey of all things. A fever dream of mysticism, psychosis and enlightenment. It dances between many heady themes whilst owing a debt to our most human qualities. A key working method for me is to strike inspiration by way of free experimentation, often through the interplay between melody and chords. I only pursue ideas that at one point shocked me enough to provoke an emotional response. From that point I work to craft my way toward that glimpse of vision that inspiration has revealed. Spanning such a large amount of time from inception to eventual release the journey has been a banquet of highs and lows. On more than one occasion the albums fate hung precariously in the balance. Producer Peter Miles’ determination and selflessness was pivotal in these difficult times. I have crossed paths with many people who have inspired, shaped and helped make the album what it is today. Muses, champions and artists, without your generosity and enthusiasm this project could never have happened. I have never made a perfect album, and Hush Mortal Core is no exception but it means a lot to me, and I feel that it represents an honest depiction of artistic intention, limitation, failure and success.
Thank you to all of you who have been patiently waiting.
