Review album:
Fritz Reiner conducts the Chicago Symphony Orchestra for this recording of Debussy's Iberia alongside compositional works by Ravel. These recordings were made from original triple track stereo master tapes embodying RCA Victor's "New Orthophonic" High Fidelity recordings technique. Condenser microphones were placed at optimum positions in Orchestra Hall, Chicago, to insure uniform coverage of the orchestra. The music as originally recorded on triple track was then produced as a dual track stereo disc by combining the three original tracks under controlled conditions, to insure correct stereophonic balance, maximum spatial effect and ideal frequency range and dynamic contrast.
