Об альбоме (сборнике)
This is the first piano solo album by Japanese pianist Eriko Shimizu, but on tracks 2, 3, 6, she collaborates with the string quartet making the sound fuller. track 3 comes from Eriko’s original repertoire, which was adapted from the concerto ‘Thanks’ which she wrote at 15 years old.
A work by Eriko Shimizu, a female pianist who was only 16 years old when she performed in a Shostakovich concerto. This work features string quartet but is focused on her piano, it incorporates classical music such as chamber music while it’s also jazz. Her delicate feminine touch and dignified strings make it a wonderful touch to the Japanese chord. (From new music guide)
“Afterglow” is translated into Japanese and written as “Remnant Summer”. The whole work shows such a scene: the sunset in the spring and the brilliant sunshine continue until the sun in the summer falls on the horizon, the sunset in autumn becomes orange-red, and in the winter on the Japanese sea, a light falls from the dark clouds illuminating the surging waves.
