Initiated at the age of eighteen in the Celtic fusion and music group Riveira, Paz Miranda Iturriaga was advancing as an autonomous figure in the new independent scenes of the Fifth Region. Born in Viña del Mar, a member of that group from Quilpué and with jobs as a music teacher and appearances as a singer-songwriter in the circuits of Valparaíso, Miranda left a first period record with the album Desvelado punto cardinal (2019). There he brought together all that early creative stage, through reflective texts, often autobiographical, and a musical proposal where he highlighted his influences: from Latin American music to pop and jazz.
With her mother, a music teacher, and her first studies in popular singing at the age of 16, Paz Miranda began a musical path that would later go on to higher education. First, at the University of Playa Ancha de Valparaíso, where in 2011 she graduated as Professor of Music and Bachelor of Education, and then with stays in Germany, where she deepened her instruction in popular singing, both in Münster (2013) and in Dortmund ( 2016), the city where he taught classes.
In his career in the Fifth Region there are a series of collaborations in groups of various considerations, from Riveira, where he was a singer and guitarist in 2005, to groups such as the porteña Atarraya, the gospel group Encanto Negro or the PUCV Female Chamber Choir and Set of Madrigalistas de Valparaíso. In 2012, Miranda performed in the “Mamma Soul Symphonic” concert, held at the Valparaíso Cultural Park and directed by the composer Boris Alvarado, and in 2013 he collaborated with the outstanding Buenos Aires progressive rock group Tryo. Upon his return to Chile, he worked on fine-tuning his songs, which he later led to the album, in that debutante Desvelado punto cardinal (Unveiled Cardinal Point), together with musicians from the region, the guitarist Marcel Bruna, the bassist Lucas Munilla and the drummer Cristián Katila Baltazar, as the central cast.
