在科幻片中特别重视温馨人情味的佳作，主角是一群佛罗里达州的老年人，本来是了无生趣地在老人院等死，不料在三名老汉偷偷进入附近一家别墅的游泳池游泳之后，却发现自己返老还童充满活力。不久，别墅被几名外地人买下，他们每天到深海找出一些巨型石卵放进泳池中浸泡。老人好奇地发掘出真相，原来这些外地人竟是披着人皮的外星人，石卵则是他们的婴孩，而池水则成了名符其实的青春之泉。演员出身的罗恩．霍华德在他早期执导的这部代表作中充分反映了童心童趣，一群老而弥坚的演员亦表现出色，尤以荣获奥斯卡最佳男配角奖的唐．阿米奇的跳舞身手更是技惊四座，喜剧效果颇高。
