Released in 2000, Sailing To Philadelphia marked the singer-songwriter-guitarist's long-awaited return to the signature sound that made Dire Straits one of rock's most acclaimed and popular groups. The record was an international smash, topping charts throughout Europe and Scandinavia and featured two classic singles: "What It Is" and the Knopfler/James Taylor duet "Sailing to Philadelphia.
