第一部007电影于1962年公映后，007电影系列风靡全球，到今天历经半个多世纪长盛不衰。据统计看过007电影的观众总数达20亿人次，亦即地球上每3人就有1个曾经看过007电影！
第1任007 肖恩·康纳利，在观众心目中留下了不可磨灭的印象，主演邦德片：《诺博士》（1）、《来自俄罗斯的爱情》（2）、《金手指》（3）、《霹雳弹》（4）、《雷霆谷》（5）、《金刚钻》（7） 。
第2任007乔治·拉赞贝，1939年9月5日出生于澳大利亚的Goulburn 。主演邦德片：第6集《女王密使》，可惜运气太差，只演了一部就领了便挡。
第3任007罗杰·摩尔，1927年10月14日出生于英国伦敦。主演邦德片：《生死关头》（8）、《金枪人》（9）、《海底城》（10）、《太空城》（11）、《最高机密》（12）、《八爪女》（13）、《雷霆杀机》（14）。1985年演完《雷霆杀机》一片后，58岁的罗杰·摩尔正式告别007，之后出任联合国大使，帮助贫困儿童。罗杰·摩尔幽默，办事利索。本人也很有爱心，虽然年龄比肖恩还大，但观众们却相当喜欢他。
第4任007 提摩西·达顿， 最不像特工的邦德:提摩西·达顿 ，主演邦德片：《黎明生机》（15）、《杀人执照》（16） 。提摩西·达顿虽然身材上输给前人和后辈，但那种成熟的韵味，和英雄性格，自成一派。
第5任007 皮尔斯·布鲁斯南，1953年5月16日生于爱尔兰，布鲁斯南出演007后颇受观众欢迎，第一部作品《黄金眼》（17）比上一部《杀人执照》的票房高出一倍（也有通货膨胀的因素）。而根据网上调查，他演的詹姆斯·邦德在网上调查中显示是最受网民欢迎的，他被形容为“刚强与温柔并济”型的詹姆斯·邦德。布鲁斯南在《明日帝国》（18）的演出也大受欢迎，《黑日危机》（19）中已经显出些许老态，他本人曾表示拍完其第4部邦德片《择日而亡》（20）后就不再演007。皮尔斯把90年代英雄动作片的各种形象加入到007中，再融合自己的幽雅与演技，成就了最受欢迎的007。
第6任（现任）007 丹尼尔·克雷格，1968年3月2日出生于英国英格兰柴郡切斯特。目前已经出演了出演了四部新007电影。

本套合集按编年顺序（截止到2000年）汇集了007系列电影中的精彩主题音乐（上世纪90年代前的电影配乐大多由John Barry谱写，间或也有Marvin Hamlisch，Bill Conti， George Martin等人的加盟，Michael Kamen和Eric Serra各自参与了一集配乐，皮尔斯·布鲁斯南主演的影片则由David Arnold配乐），由布拉格市立爱乐乐团演奏，是一张珍贵的电影音乐藏品。
