Еще с 90х Brendan Angelides продвигался к выпуску своего полноформатника на платформе “эбонитового звучания”. Щепетильное ожидание вокруг ажиотажного возрождения новой работы, устроенной на шестеренках glitch hop, dubstep и вкраплением funk, завершено. Следуя своему восприятию, музыкальная персона Eskmo прорастает еще с 1999 года, бросая его в idm и в drum n bass, или того хуже – воссоздание своего альтер-эго, амбиентального Welder.
Так и не решившись выпустить новую работу под своим лейблом Ancestor, на этот раз под свою опеку октябрьского LP ,с несдержанным названием имени своего творца, взял английский Ninja Tune. Битмейкер ушел от бьющихся воблов, которыми баловался Брендан еще в начале своего dubstep музицирования, чтобы открыть свои неподражаемые, неформатные вибрации, дать прочувствовать слушателю томность своей натуры. Зарождение собственной импрессии в композициях стало заметно в 2008 году, с применение изворотистого, стучащего бита, вслед за которым прибегает негласное бас сопровождение и выброс шуршащих, разбитных, осколочных сэмплов. Собственно, полноформатник напоминает поход в цирк, где гвоздем программы сегодня индийский слон (может быть и по имени eskmo), на холке которого ассистентами аккуратно выстроена пирамида из бокалов. Eskmophant тяжело передвигает ногами, под лязганье стекла, которое напоминает манеру Shigeto. Конструкция кажется неустойчивой, но нет сомнений – она не порушится. Пока все пищали под Cloudlight, нам незаметно подсовывают трудно запоминающиеся композиции с сольным содержанием Брендана. Отшлифование вокала порой доставляет удовольствие отлично вкроенным в схему dubstep. Возможность истощится, дают словесные якори, дающие нам заголовок композиции и основную идею, зачастую ясность которой оставляет желать лучшего. Он оставляет нас наедине с впаянным Moving Glowstream и бьющимися бокалами. А еще этот полноформатник – двобродный брат Great Western Laymen.
