О группе
Lamb — возможно, наиболее интересные представители первой волны трип-хопа, пришедшей после успеха «большой троицы» Massive Attack, Трики и Portished. Прежде всего, Lamb — это тандем вокалистки Лу Родес и электронщика Энди Барлоу, при этом на концертах состав группы варьируется и доходит до 6 человек — именно в таком виде группа и приезжает в «16 Тонн». Трип-хоп в прочтении Барлоу и Родес нередко разбавляется джазом или даже драм-н-бейсом, а «изюминка» их аранжировок — контрабас и струнная секция. Благодаря оригинальным музыкальным ходам, Lamb, не будучи совсем уж звёздами поп-чартов MTV, тем не менее, давно уже застолбили себе статус культовой группы в глазах миллионов слушателей по всему миру. Первый альбом Lamb вышел в 1996-м, а самым заметным хитом тогда стала пронзительная песня Gorecki. Песни Cotton Wool, What Sound, Sweet и, конечно, Gabriel, также вошли во множество трип-хоповых сборников и уже причислены к «новой классике».
Несколько лет назад, после выхода 4-го диска, Лу и Энди приостановили деятельность группы и занялись сольными проектами: Родес записала несколько акустических пластинок, а Барлоу работал исключительно как DJ. Однако, недавно Lamb воссоединились и совершили небольшое турне, а в 2011-м и вовсе анонсировали выход нового альбома «5». С материалом свежей пластинки, а также лучшими треками за всё время существования группы, Lamb 21 мая 2011 года впервые в истории посетили российскую столицу, чтобы сыграть единственный концерт на сцене «16 Тонн».
Об альбоме
Почему «5»? Да потому что просто такой вот порядковый номер выпал очередному творению группы, чей творческий путь насчитывает более 10 лет, а пауза, предшествующая выходу Lamb «5», составила ни много ни мало – 8 лет. Кстати, стоит отметить тот факт, что в прошлом у Lamb была пара-тройка примечательных альбомов, благодаря которым «кредит доверия» и интереса к группе не исчез.
Видимо, для того чтобы компенсировать долгое молчание, новый релиз оказался двухдисковым. Но «много» – это не всегда «хорошо». И прокомментировать «5» в неком восторженном ключе крайне сложно, т. е. можно сказать «вау, супер, феерично», но что конкретно там «вау, супер, феерично» – все равно непонятно.
Собственно, Lamb как Lamb… только какой-то тусклый и невыразительный. Альбом насквозь пропитан «старым», уже знакомым саундом а’ля «What Sound» и думаю, что можно было так или иначе похвалить «5», ради приличия, но нет. Два диска незапоминающегося материала – это, извините, издевательство.
Альбом исключительно для фанатов. В общем и целом неплох, но без особых откровений, хорош в качестве фона. Всем остальным – лет на 7-12 в прошлое.
