О виниле:
In this continuing series of underrated solo Beatles LPs, we have “Gone Troppo” to underwhelm you with. I originally had intended to transfer this from a sealed US standard vinyl pressing. I’ve known about the Quiex promo-only vinyl but the first Quiex vinyl LP I came across was considerably over-priced so I passed on it. Eventually I found the Quiex copy presented here at a much more reasonable rate. I decided to go ahead and transfer both the standard vinyl pressing and this Quiex pressing so that I could compare them. While I could not pick up on any real sonic differences in the music, I was totally impressed with how very, very quiet this Quiex vinyl pressing was. This may sound a bit odd, after all it is Quiex vinyl. But I have a number of Quiex pressings of various LPs and in some cases, the pressings should be called “not-so-Quiex” vinyl. This “Gone Troppo” Quiex pressing is probably one of the quietest slabs of vinyl I’ve worked with to date. Too bad they didn’t use this stuff more often. It would have been worth the difference in price.
