      本套专辑包含6张CD，收录了100首最优美动听的巴洛克时期音乐，由多位一流音乐家演出，呈现最原汁原味的时代风情。专辑以精致的纸盒包装，辅以烫金的文字图样设计，内含24页解说册，穿插文字介绍、作曲家图片与图例说明。

      巴洛克为西洋古典音乐的一个重要时期，大约于1600-1750间。其名称是借用自建筑用语，用以描述自十七世纪到十八世纪中叶欧洲当时的音乐风格。该词葡萄牙文的原义是「变形的珍珠」，对这种在文艺复兴时期以后盛行的特殊艺术作风具有轻视之意。
      巴洛克风格首先呈现在建筑与美术上，当时的音乐亦流露出这种富于戏剧性、装饰性、富丽堂皇甚至有点矫揉夸张的风格，这正是当时极权主义与反宗教改革运动等社会形态的反映。
      音乐方面的巴洛克扎根于文艺复兴的传统而蔚成新潮流，许多创新的形式与风格都由法国、德国、意大利以及英国的作曲家所创。
      巴洛克初期有蒙台威尔第、福雷德可巴地，到了中期则有维瓦尔第、库普兰、以及普赛尔，晚期则有亨德尔及巴赫。巴洛克时期的音乐本质上虽是宗教化和贵族化的，然而并非高不可攀，其率真高贵的情致、戏剧性的张力、丰盈华丽的音效都十分扣人心弦。

      专辑收录的作品包含：维瓦尔第《四季》、亨德尔《弥赛亚》、《席巴女王之进场》、《怀念的树荫》、帕海贝尔《卡农》、巴赫《G弦之歌》、《布兰登堡协奏曲》、塔替尼《魔鬼的颤音》、拉摩《多情的印地安人》、蒙台威尔第《奥菲欧》、克拉克《小号志愿军》等，此外还有史卡拉第、卢利、玛黑、布罗、普赛尔等人的名曲。
