洛杉矶创作歌手Cameron Rafati自12岁拾起吉他开始踏上了自己的音乐之旅。
MTVMusic.comjust interviewed Cameron Rafati, a pop singer hailing from Utah, USA. On the heels of his latest EP release xOx Half Album and on the verge of writing another, Cameron has a distinctly Maroon 5-ish yearning rock vibe, only he sings about the down sides of texting!
Check out his 2009 track “1 in 10″ and his latest hit “xOx.”

Who is Cameron Rafati?
I Grew up in Salt Lake City. My mom is Scandanavian, my dad is Persian. I am 6’6″. I have always been different and find it difficult to settle for being just mediocre.
How does it feel to be the MTV Music’s Needle In The Haystack?
OurStage has been so good to me! This is truly an honor to be in the category of so many talented up and comers. I hear so much about these people.
What is “xOx” about?
These days texting and social media are ruling our lives. They are becoming a substitute for a heart to heart connection Some people would rather text an XOX than actually call the person or god forbid, tell them how much they love them. Some people might have 4,500 facebook friends but are very lonely. There will ba a backlash soon to this and we WILL find a happy medium.
First song you remember really affecting you?
Radiohead- “Everything in Its Right Place“… There is wisdom in living and breathing in the now during times of Turmoil. Times are tough these days but we forget that this is all a test for us and Everything is STILL in its right place.
How do you describe your music?
It’s a mixture of Epic Pop, Singer/Songwriter, House, and Hip Hop. I like mixing up genres constantly but linking it all through my voice Everyone has 30 different genres on their iPhones and iPods these days, why cant I do it too?
What is your creative process like?
When I feel inspired, I sing nonsense words into a recorder while playing the guitar and then go back and listen to decipher what I just said. After I finish, It always becomes an awesome song and I realize what my heart was trying to get out initially.

When did you realize you wanted to make music?
I wanted to make music because I was kind of a lonely kid growing up. I wanted to get chicks and make people love me. Later in life I realized I do it to serve my community from a place of love.
Salt Lake City music scene likes?
Salt Lake is amazing. There is such a pool of pent up and untapped talent here that it would blow peoples minds. However, there has not been many artists that have come out to represent because everyone is too scared to admit that they are from here.
Dislikes?
People not believing in themselves and equating “success” to “selling out”.
Any good secrets to reveal?
The secret to love is to stop thinking.
Spare time activities?
I like acting like a homless person and hanging around the shelter, it reminds me of who I am and what I get to do for people.
Favorite music videos to watch?
Anything from Nico Vega, I cant get enough. Aja Volkmann is the hottest rocker chick ever!
Most memorable music moment?
First time I got on stage when I was 12 to play in front of the school with my band at 7th grade talent show. All the Jocks booed the hell out of us but all the girls were screaming! Let the battle begin meatheads!
______would be a dream come true?
If I could one day see that I am inspiring humanity to follow their passions, love others, and stop victimizing themselves, I would know I have done good work.
Top 5 music influences?
U2, Radiohead, Coldplay, Gorillaz, and Feist.
Life influences?
Bono — there is no one more inspiring to me than him. He truly cares about changing the planet. If the Lady Gagas and Kanyes of this world could actually use their influence for good like Bono has, we would be in a different place.
Favorite song to dance to?
I dance sometimes to Celine Dion’s “I’m Alive” in my underwear when my roomate isn’t home… My guilty as hell pleasure
Cry to?
“Fix You” by Coldplay.
Favorite band you’ve played with?
We just opened for Hanson the other night in Salt Lake and they kicked us off stage after 3 songs. My fans were pissed and people got roudy. I was just happy to have to opportunity because my life choice is already paying off.
What are your pre-show rituals?
I get the band together in a circle, share feelings and get on the same page energetically to go inspire and create something special. I love my crew. I also like meeting the people that sit and wait in line for the shows. They are hardcore and mean so much to me.
