Leonard Bernstein's first complete cycle of the Mahler symphonies, in the Japanese stereo/multichannel releases of what were originally 3-channel recordings.
Mahler's 5th Symphony shows him moving into new territory, leaving behind the wunderhorn songs and vocal parts in favor of purely orchestral works with darker textures. This symphony is best known for the lovely Adagietto at the 4th movement, famously used in the film Death in Venice but also at various official events.
This 5th has always been considered something of the dud of the cycle, bettered by the 5th in Bernstein's later cycle for Deutsche Grammophon. But of course, you should listen for yourself.
For those who want to keep their Mahler Symphonies straight, a helpful guide.
If you want Bernstein on Mahler, there's no better place than his televised "Young People's Concert" on Mahler.
Musicweb has a comprehensive review of the entire cycle in the DSD remastering (but on RBCD)
