The Milwaukee native, who now lives in Brooklyn, has sung on the famed “Showtime at the Apollo” in Harlem, at the Kennedy Center, The Ella Awards, and on The Today Show. Last year, Grace graced the Oprah Winfrey Show, handpicked by Oprah herself from hundreds of thousands of entrants in a national video to perform on the program.

Print media quickly started taking notice, resulting in a feature in the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel and industry bible, Billboard Magazine choosing her as a spotlighted “artist to watch.”

Grace’s formative experience in music came when she was 10 years old, joining the Inner City Youth Gospel Choir in Milwaukee, where she performed regularly at churches and revivals around the city. Over time, she’s deftly melded those early roots in soul and gospel with a modern pop sensibility of such artists as Adele, Norah Jones and Sara Bareilles to forge a musical identity of her very own. In describing her output, Grace says, “I think we borrow from a few different genres, including pop, old school singer/songwriter and jazz. The core my music always comes back to a modern version of ‘soul,” in that I try to tell stories through my lyrics that I hope can touch people, and I always try to sing from an honest place.”

Now, Grace is set to release her first solo album, Hope & Heart, produced by respected, Grammy award winning producer, Mike Mangini who recently has scored huge success with two other young female artists, Joss Stone and Diane Birch. “I was really excited to work with Mike. We shared a similar vision for the album and for the sound that describes my music.”

The union has indeed paid off, and the proof can be heard right from the top- “Stay or Leave,” with its playful bounce and occasional jazzy cadence, is a consummate pop tune without being too self-conscious about it. Onto “Everything To Me,” a perfect sentimental summer song, the languid, Gospel-tinged heartbreaker, “Leave The Light On,” the rousing Wurly-fueled rocker, “Hitchhiker,” and the gorgeous lament, “& Heart,” all well-worthy highlights on an album that’s quite obviously full of them.

Grace has already done two tours around the country, and dates supporting the fall release of “Hope & Heart” are being scheduled, kicking off in the NYC area and the Midwest.
