For King & Country, stylized as for KING & COUNTRY and formerly known as Joel & Luke, is an alternative rock duo composed ofAustralian–American brothers Joel & Luke Smallbone. The Nashville-based brothers' 2012 debut record Crave, has received much praise, and they were named by Billboard Magazine as one of the "New Artists To Watch" for 2012. American Songwriter described them as "Australia’s answer toColdplay."
SUSIE Magazine raves, "It takes only one listen to the brothers’ rich, upbeat, alternative sounds and thoughtful lyrics to understand their sudden popularity."
They are the younger brothers of Grammy Award-winning recording artist Rebecca St. James.
They describe their philosophy as such:
"The power of music can impact our mood, emotions, our day. But when you merge the strength of music with the heart, hope and passion of the Gospel... it has the ultimate power not only to change someone's day, but to impact them for eternity. This is why we write music and sing songs - we hope that people will be moved, encouraged and stirred to live a life for Someone greater than themselves."
They cite U2, Mutemath, OneRepublic, The Beatles, The Goo Goo Dolls, and Switchfoot, as well as film scores such as those from Braveheart andGladiator, as their musical influences.
Crave is the first studio album by contemporary Christian duo for KING & COUNTRY, released on 28 February 2012 by Fervent-Curb Records.

Critical review

Christian Music Review Blog's Jonathan Kemp said that he is "infatuated with every one of the songs on Crave."
Christian Music Zine's Tyler Hess said "if you’re looking for something new and powerful in the contemporary pop scene, then for KING & COUNTRY’s debut full length album 'Crave' is definitely one to look out for as one of the best up and comers in the genre."
Cross Rhythms' Simon Eden said "as a rock album, this is quite a man's man album - powerful stadium rock with a sound like a roaring inferno."
Indie Vision Music's Jonathan Andre said "Crave is not your cliché album, and I was very intrigued to listen to it, to see if their sounds on the album were similar to that of their sister, Rebecca." Furthermore, Andre wrote "though not a perfect album, this is a solid one from two Australians that will definitely go far in the American industry!"
Jay's Musik Blog's Jay Wright said "Crave...will no doubt make the listener an immediate fan."
Jesus Freak Hideout's Ryan Barbee said "at first listen, I was honestly expecting something unappealing and typical. I was pleasantly surprised and happily repented of my negative predisposition.
