J. Anthony Granelli (bass guitar)V16's third recording - master band leader and innovative drummer Jerry Granelli, bassist son J. Anthony Granelli, and dual guitarists (both often abstract, both sometimes on slide) Christian Kogel and David Tronzo play an energetic, explorative, playful, relaxed yet occasionally explosive, virtuosic set; one disc, live-in-studio in Halifax, the other, "Live At Ironworks", at the '08 Vancouver Jazz Festival. As an evolution/maturation of their playing this recording is all of structured, composed, and practiced tunes, although you might not guess on first listen!
The second, bonus (73 minute) concert/documentary DVD is fantastic, and really helps me appreciate their playing - somehow it's easier to understand and appreciate such free-ranging (open-mined!) jazz when I can see it! (Then I can see why the sound sometimes reminds me of Fred Frith's approach to treated guitar playing.) Great audio and visual quality throughout. Probably deserves 5 stars overall, but I don't have enough experience/frame of reference to base it on... all I know is I like it, really like it! 曲目列表：
