Excellent recording of the old EMI label with high resolution. Planning 40 years after Kaempe's death.
Planned for 40 years after Rudolf Kempe (1910-'76) died. One of the best performances of this song, filled with different charms than later re-recordings. While recording in 1958, SACD reproduces the immersive name recording of the old EMI label at that time. Marvel at the torturier's perfection and the finest sound of orchestra. Excellent recording board. For this reprint, mastering was performed separately for the SACD layer and the CD layer separately, using a master digitized at 96kHz / 24bit from the master in the home country. It is a permanent storage board. Kempe's recording of Don Quixote is also famous for his re-recording with Starzkapelle Dresden, who also co-starred with Torturier, but this 1958 recording with the Berlin Philharmonic was the first recording of the same song by Kempe. Even before the recording of a series of later R. Strauss, it still has a high reputation as a masterpiece. In both cases, Kempe's interpretation is basically the same, and it is a good performance that expresses Kemp's sincere attitude to reproduce the music faithfully to the score. The recording was quite excellent at the time, and the sound quality and position of the solo instruments and the backing wind instruments and stringed instruments were clearly understood. Even after more than 50 years, the vivid sound is not impaired, and it can be said that it is exactly a recording suitable for SACD conversion. In the later recording of the Berlin Philharmonic, for example, the same song that Karajan recorded on the EMI label with Lost Povic, although the recording location and age are different, while controlling the overall sound at a farther position, This Kempe board uses a recording method that captures instruments more clearly at close positions and organically connects each part to build the whole.
