Доп. информация
This is an UPGRADE from a previous rip I made a while back using completely different equipment! The original rip (which found its way on nearly a dozen different trackers) was made with this crappy rig:
Marantz tt185 turntable > a Soundblaster X-Fi HD USB Soundcard > Nero Soundtrax 7 > Cool Edit Pro 2.1 > Flac
This brand-new, upgrade/re-rip was made with this:
I applied Revirginizer to all four sides for 24 hours each ->
Technics SL-1200 MK5 [Turntable] -> AT440MLa [Cartridge] -> TCC TC-750LC [Preamp] -> Emu 0404 USB 2.0 [Audio Interface] -> Ableton Live 6.0.1.1 E-mu Edition [Audio Recording Software] -> Cool Edit Pro 2.1 -> Trader's Little Helper -> MP3Tag
Cool Edit Pro 2.1 was used for cutting sides into tracks, manually removing pops/clicks, lightly declicking, and downsampling to 16/44.
* The original rip needed speed-correction, and despite peaking at -1db, it was not nearly as full and loud as the new rip, which peaks at -3db! The new rip sounds fantastic, especially during the quiet, subtle parts of 'Echoes.'
* I bought this 2x album brand new at a record convention in 1990 for $16.00. I took it home and immediately transferred it to cassette tape. I remember my jaw dropping at the incredible sound quality. For 16 bucks, I figured it was some audience recording from hell. I was completely taken aback by the awesomeness of this set. 20 years later, when I made the first 24/96 digital rip of the album, I looked on discogs and found it for $300.00. It has come down in price since then ($150.00) but its still very rare, and my copy is still near-mint.
* BTW, eventhough this sounds incredible, its still just a bootleg taken from 4 different BBC sessions over 40 years ago, so don't expect perfection. There is some hiss on a track or two, some slight vocal distortion on the earliest BBC session. Believe me when I tell you that after having recorded this on three different rigs, the same clicks/pops/audio anomalies exist WITHIN the recording, not on the record surface! Enjoy...
