Notes:
I'm 99% sure this mastering was sourced from digital
It's obvious with things like the uber distorted vocal on Little Cream Soda... that cutoff around 21-22kHz is just too sharp to ignore. Also, the mix of "A Martyr For My Love For You" has some kind of very unusual distortion on the cymbals, during the loud sections. It's definitely not my fault, folks!
Due to some retarded mastering/cutting process that I've seen on another Masterdisk cut album (Foo Fighters - Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace for those of you playing at home), the frequency range has a very large dip around 19kHz (sloping gradually from 15-16k). It's also not my fault, although I feel like getting in contact with them and asking wtf is causing such a massive HF reduction on their cuts >:(
Method:
1. Recorded into Ardour in Ubuntu Studio 9.04 (96kHz, 24bit)
2. Recombined individual channels using Multiwav
3. DeNoiseLF (Noise Floor -55dB, Freq Limit 150Hz)
4. DeNoiseLF (Hum removal: 60Hz, Noise Floor -55dB) (since I'm in Aus, it's impossible that it's hum being introduced by my equipment. [50Hz vs 60Hz, k?])
5. Right Channel boost: Side 1: 0.9dB, Side 2: 1.4dB, Side 3: 1.3dB, Side 4: 1.3dB
6. Both channels boosted by 4dB. (this is the highest I could go without either clipping or going into the decimal points...)
6. ClickRepair: (Declick: 5, "Simple", Pitch Protection, Reverse, Stereo->Mono; anything stronger compromised the nice snare transients)
7. Individual click removal in Adobe Audition 2 (very labourious)
9. One case of using Waves X-Crackle due to very stubborn clicks (yeah they were practically inaudible but you know me...)
10. Tracks tagged using dBpoweramp
11. Converted to FLAC v1.2.1 (level 8, verified) using dBpoweramp also.
Unfortunately I haven't had time to take pictures of the vinyl labels, and since these are full 12" records, the covers are too big for me to scan (and taking a pic of them with my crappy camera is probably worse than having nothing at all). As always, if you enjoyed it, share it!
