About
The band earned the Spirit Award “for bringing classic rock and roll music to new generations.”
Though the members of 35th & Taylor had always hoped for success, earning the Spirit Award was a little surprising.
Taylor said it was an honor for the band to receive the award. If anything, the Spirit Award has shown how far the
band has come since it started as a trio. The Kaler brothers needed a singer. Evan Kaler took a parent’s advice.
“My mom always told me if I was ever going to start a band that she [Taylor] had to be the singer, because she was
the best,” he said.
Taylor remembered how she was so nervous that she wouldn’t even look at her fellow band members. The nerves subsided
and the band grew as the years went by, eventually adding Osborn and Miller in early 2013.
So what’s next for the band? Recently, 35th & Taylor hired a managing company. With that, the band hopes to find
bigger and better gigs. The band previously played at The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota for three days
straight.
“We had a crowd every time we played,” said Taylor. “It was an interesting experience.”
The young band — which is made up of a high school freshman, sophomore, junior and senior and a college freshman — will
continue to look forward. Website
