Мартин Тингвалль – шведский джазовый пианист и композитор, лидер группы Tingvall Trio. Трио было образовано в Гамбурге в 2003 году. В состав трио, наряду с самим Тингваллем входят кубинский контрабасист Омар Родригес Кальво и немецкий барабанщик Юрген Шпигель. Музыкальная составляющая этого коллектива — скандинавский джаз с оттенком кубинского стиля и легким поп-роковым веянием. В качестве одного из элементов композиции трио использует традиционные шведские народные песни. Martin Tingvall (born 1974 in Tomelilla) is a Swedish jazz pianist and composer. Tingvall was raised in the southern Swedish city of Schonen and attended a music school there. He continued his education at the local Folk high school of Skurup, and then studied jazz piano, composition and improvisation at the Malmö School of Music. Tingvall was taught inter alia by the Swedish jazz pianist Bobo Stenson. In between, he completed a semester abroad in the Netherlands, at the Hanzehogeschool Groningen. In 1999 he graduated from Malmö. Then he moved to Hamburg, where he worked with Udo Lindenberg, Gunter Gabriel, Inga Rumpf, Baschi and Mandy Capristo.
In 2003 Tingvall founded the Tingvall Trio together with bassist Omar Rodriguez Calvo and drummer Jürgen Spiegel, for which he was leased and also composed all the pieces. The trio was awarded three times with the ECHO Jazz, and has successfully established itself internationally. Occasionally he also played in the Tim Rodig Group. Tingvall also writes and produces film scores (Jahr des Drachen, Year of the Dragon, 2012, Crime Scene: Another World and Crime Scene: Spooky Worlds, 2013) as well as songs for other artists. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Tingvall

The new solo project entitled “The Rocket” now sets itself apart due to an even greater degree of weightlessness and lightness, yet without ever drifting off into the trivial and banal. The traditional apportioning between left and right hand blurs: the left is equally entitled to carry the melody and vice versa. This pianist who splits his time living in Hamburg and southern Sweden uses the figure of a rocket exploring an unknown orbit to describe this levitating across new audiophonic worlds.
A musician who moves equally among categories such as film scoring, classical, jazz or pop, on this album Martin Tingvall plays seemingly simple sounding, grippingly beautiful melodies that at times conjure up associations with classical figures, other times reflect his origins stemming from Scandinavian folk music, and in the next moment gravitate closely to the veritable improvisational freedom we call jazz. He has long since left the commonplace “shoeboxing” of genres behind him to create his very own Tingvall world of sound comprised of different sources of inspiration.
“Our world is governed by transformation at an incredibly fast speed. Digitalization is changing almost all areas of society, our daily lives. With this album I wanted to design an antithesis to that, an opposite pole of tranquility. At the same time I’m exploring new musical worlds for myself, too.”
