最初由Cannibal Corpse乐队的主唱Chris Barnes和Obituary乐队的吉他手Allen West组合而成的玩票乐队Six Feet Under，在Barnes与其原乐队伙伴关系闹僵之后正式成立。前Death乐队的贝司手Terry Butler和鼓手Greg Gall加入后，Six Feet Under在1995年发行了他们的首张专辑《Haunted》。而Barnes也停止了与Cannibal Corpse的合作关系。Six Feet Under在1996年录制了一张EP《Alive and Dead》，1997年录制专辑《Warpath》。第三张专辑《Maximum Violence》在1999年出炉。紧接着一年是《Graveyard Classics》，而2001年的《True Carnage》请来了Ice-T加入说唱。2002年，发行《Double Dead》，2003年发行《 Bringer of Blood》，2004年发行《Graveyard Classics, Vol. 2》，2005年发行《13 and the Decade in the Grave box》，2007年发行全新大碟《Commandment》。
