Guitarist and composer Ivan Kapec is active in jazz and electronic music from the 90s. He played in numerous Croatian jazz ensembles, and in 2001 founded his own trio with which he recorded two albums, “Lancun” and “Bava”. He is also the founder of the multimedia group “Trianguli Zona” with which he has performed at numerous festivals at home and abroad. Since 2009, Capisconne has been a composer, together with DJ Labosh, the author of the Loop Chamber Music project and with Borko Rupen’s he lead electro-acoustic improvisation duo Sonic Diptych. EP “Activity”, made under artistic name Capisconne, was released for the Mexican net label “Breathe Compilation”. This album is ranked among the top five Creative Commons albums in 2009. In 2011, they collaborated with the Romanian ethno ensemble “Anton Pann Band” from which emerged the album “Emerging Landscapes”. 2014 Ivan released album “Time traveling”, for which a comprehensive note on the CD was written by journalist John Kelman, from”All About Jazz”. London’s label Dubmission records included three Kapec’s electronic compositions in the compilation of “Next Dubmission”. Ivan’s pieces were, among others, performed by Big Band HRT, multi-instrumentalist Ratko Vojtek and Varaždin Chamber Orchestra, and made a large number of compositions for films and art video installations. Ivan performed in Croatia, Slovenia, Germany, Switzerland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, USA, Czech Republic, Turkey and Italy. He has been conducting sessions of electro-jazz called “Sunrise Sessions” as a new platform for the development of a creative improvise music scene in Croatia. Together with Janko Novoselic, with whom he played in the famous Kozmodrum group, he started the Music Zone’s record label. Ivan also wrote for the WAM magazine and edited the themes of music in the Quorum magazine. He also edits the radio show “Jazzolovka” on Croatian nationa radio, which promotes new improvisation and jazz music in the region.
Об альбоме (сборнике)
"The line (Crta) separates the space of chaos from the space we think is organized in some way. That's how I imagine it. And then, relying on that assumption, I seem to discern where chaos is and where order is. It’s a nice feeling, but it lasts a very short time.
In making this music, I was guided by two instincts - to keep things under control, to have everything written down, and to be clear about what sounded and what will be follow, and in the same time - to let music and musicians work on their own that they are evolving and that the outcome is completely uncertain. So some compositions are detailed, and some are brought only as basic sketches.
I thank these musicians whose music inspired me - Kozmodrum, Maja Posavec, Ólafur Arnalds, Eivind Aarset and Ben Lucas Boysen." I.K.
