Formed by Jake E. Lundberg and Olof Morck, the project began taking shape when singers Elize Ryd and Andy Solvestrom signed on, as did drummer Morten Lowe. So far, the band has released on demo on their MySpace profile, titled “Leave Everything Behind”. This 4-song demo was released in 2008. In 2009, the band changed their name from Avalanche to Amaranthe due to legal issues, and has since begun preproduction work on their upcoming debut. The album is set to be recorded in June. Amaranthe’s debut album is said to be a concept album, according to guitarist/composer Olof Morck.
