Sparkling than sparkling. Vivaldi as a raging roeland. It strikes you immediately when you hear this CD: the exceptionally fast tempos. All allegro's sound like presto, making the music an extraordinary ferocity and momentum. Sometimes the soloists (organ, cello, flute, violin) hardly keep up, they almost fly off the road. Conductor Amandine Beyer knows the whole thing however to keep on track and encourages her ensemble Gli Incogniti until very fiery Vivaldi Monumentjes. Two of them are presented as world premiere recordings, the Organ Concerto RV 808 and the Violin Concerto RV 194. Whether that is true, it is difficult to assess, but we take it gladly. It draws in any case, the use of this team, recently the musicologist Olivier FOURES attracted to ensure that many remained unknown gems among the dust be removed. Gli Incogniti does not just settle for common repertoire, but would on any new CD with some novelties come. In combination with the passionate game, and the wonderful acoustics of a church in the Portuguese Pуvoa de Varzim, this leads here to a wonderful production that each Vivaldi lover will embrace.
