Live to 2 track, contemporary electric/acoustic rock! Recorded with an almost jazz approach with lots of room for experimentation & improvisation. Featuring great instrumental solos & awesome sonics, Sajko’s “Page” deserves a listen! Fans of classic rock like Zappa, Cream, John Hiatt & King Crimson will dig this one.
Remember a time when Rock & Roll told an intimate story layered in harmonic textures, a resolution of the clash between acoustic & electric, inside & out? Sjako! reports from that borderline. The roots are of blues, folk, & jazz grown into progressive rock forms; the resonance of things past in uncharted waters. Live & raw, a fully amped “unplugged” set, this disc captures the essence of being on the stage within the envelope that the musicians are spinning. In the beginning there were no boundaries between the band & the audience, & so it is once again.
SA-CD.net review by montejay April 27, 2011:
Don’t judge this album until you have heard it from start to finish(personally I do not like the 1st track, but after the album morphs into a electric blues to fusion jazz, soul, rock & other accoustic genres. If I didn’t know better I would think it was a sampler. It is done quite well & keeps me interested from track 2 onwards. Sonically, it makes the SACD format shine. You can see the quality in the recording & mastering. The instruments have amazing detail in an expansive 3d soundstage if you have the system to bring it out. Highly recommended but a little different as mentioned. Currently in heavy rotation.
Musicians:
Richard Heijerman (drums, percussion & ‘preproductive’ marimba),
Thus Vermeulen (bass & vacuum soul, whatever the heck that is)
Wouter Planteijdt (guitars, vocals, samples and loops).
