Joe Lovano and Dave Douglas launched the sound printing adventure in 2013, the 80th birthday of Wayne short. Since then, the mission of saxophone and trumpet players has been to celebrate the legacy of their distinguished elders by creating and playing new music conceived in his fearless creative spirit. Among the generations of pianist Lawrence fields, bassist Linda may Han and drummer Joey Baron, the quintet master has published live sound print: the Monterey Jazz Festival live, which includes two new short themes of global creation. In 2018, the scandal album provided the same training to deal with the new theme signed by Lovano and Douglas, as well as the rereading of Zhu Ju and fee fi fo fum, both masterpieces of the blue note of shorter period. In January 2020, a week of "other worlds" was recorded live in the famous Village Vanguard in New York. The quintet sound prints provides high-quality original works. This time there is no signature from Wayne short, but the spirit and philosophy of the former luxury winger, Miles Davis, stands out more than ever. The powerful alchemy among the team members is shining all the time. No wonder Douglas said: "the concept of this group is dialogue and interaction.
