Об альбоме
Вовремя сбавив обороты своего бескомпромиссного драм-н-бэйс маховика, несколько лет подряд буквально наводившего панику на танцполах, дуэт Саймона Шрива и Бретта Бигдена очутился в нужном месте и среди нужных людей.
Сменив профиль и выпустив триумфальный «One Of Us», парни оказались в самой гуще событий электронной и, в частности, дабстеп сцены. Последняя к тому времени уже стала напоминать библейского колосса с сияющей золотой головой, грубым чугунным туловищем и шаткими глиняными ногами, неуверенно опирающимися на фундаментальное творчество Digital Mystikz, Loefah, Youngsta, Pinch, Benga и других основоположников жанра.
Но сегодня, когда другие продюсеры все больше отдаляются от ставшего условным понятия «дабстеп» и с головой окунаются в техно и хаусовые эксперименты, Kryptic Minds по-прежнему твердо придерживаются канонов «стоун-колд» звучания на отметке сто сорок ударов в минуту.
Об этом красноречиво говорит почти каждый трек альбома «Can't Sleep», грамотно и со вкусом вызвученного послания слушателю, который предпочел дневной суете прохладный ночной вояж по бессонному городу.
Глухие индустриальные рокоты, плотные басовые линии и редкие, аккуратно расставленные биты с перкуссиями отчетливо изображают футуристические панорамы, выявляя в них некий таинственный дух, пронизывающий звуком любую материю на молекулярном уровне.
Отсутствие ярко выраженных мелодий и линейное развитие композиции приводит к тому, что большинство треков альбома не запоминаются с первого раза. И в этом определенно есть немалый плюс — в отличие от въедающихся в мозг и быстро утрачивающих свежесть топовых хитов, «Can't Sleep» позволяет слушателю уделить достаточное внимание собственным чувствам и эмоциям.
Здесь уместно прозвучит известный слоган «Сome meditate on bass weight» — музыка Kryptic Minds весьма правдиво описывает то, что чувствует человек, закрывая уши от городского шума и концентрируясь на своих внутренних вибрациях.
