      电影中使用古典音乐从二、三十年代就开始，但到了近十年却有较衰颓的情形，但依旧可以看到现《A.I.人工智慧》中使用理查．史特劳斯「玫瑰骑士」中的圆舞曲、或是《人魔》和日本动画《穿越时空的少女》使用「郭德堡变奏曲」等非常鲜明成功且让人印象深刻的例子。
      在80年代，电影使用古典音乐往往是全片中的高潮，从《远离非洲》到《阿玛迪斯》。近几年的一些畅销电影如《铁达尼号》、《狮子王》等，则各自创造了同样脍炙人口的经典音乐。
      在这套收录超过两个半小时的电影经典爱情的音乐专辑中，收录了三十三首有史以来最畅销的电影旋律，包括了英国电影史上最卖座原声带专辑，由惠妮休士顿主唱的《终极保鑣》、《铁达尼号》、《北非谍影》、《星际大战》、《狮子王》、《教父》、《侠盗王子罗宾汉》、《教会》、《与狼共舞》、《第凡内早餐》、《爱的故事》、《星梦泪痕》、《远离非洲》、《第六感生死恋》、《钢琴师与她的情人》、《齐瓦哥医生》、《周末夜狂热》等经典电影中最动人爱情场面的主题曲。
      专辑中主要的录音，都是由尼克殷格曼改编并指挥布拉格爱乐演出，也有是由约翰威廉士指挥波士顿大众管弦乐团，乃至原声带创作者詹姆斯霍纳指挥的演出。最特别的是有一份录音则是由法国超技钢琴家提鲍德独奏的《钢琴师与她的情人》的主题曲。
