Queen had proven itself as a multi-talented, genre-defying, classical rock band from Hell that sounds like Heaven, with Shear Heart Attack, A Day At The Races, and beyond anyone's doubts with A Night At The Opera. They had conquered the mainstream with We Are The Champions and have become one of the most played songs in history at sports venues around the globe with Brian May's We Will Rock You. They certainly had nothing to prove with their next album, Jazz, but again the quartet excelled beyond description and expectations with this often underrated work. Bicycle Race and Fat-Bottomed Girls proved commercial enough for the Top 40, yet ecclectic enough not to tarnish the reputation of one of the best bands ever to exist. Songs like In Only Seven Days, and Leaving Home Ain't Easy showed their melodic romantic skills off in a way that made it look easy. Still using no synthesizers, Queen was a group of four geniuses, who fortunately united to bring us an experience in the audio arts that is rivalled only by the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, and a few others. There is good, there is great, and there is Queen.
