Jack Johnson从小在夏威夷长大，17岁的他已经是冲浪界的天才，以最年轻的年纪扬名于世界级冲浪大赛 (Pipeline Masters)，正当体坛界将他锁定成海滩明日之星之时，他却因命运安排，亲自导演了一部冲浪电影《Thicker Than Water》获得各影展大奖，日后则又因为音乐创作天份，签约于环球唱片。
Jack Johnson 擅长创作气氛好、感觉对的音乐，简单的空心吉他搭配他温煦柔和的嗓音，让人感觉轻松而舒适… 《权威音乐网站AMG》这样推崇他的音乐风格。
2003年再接再厉推出《On and On》专辑，邀来曾为Beastie Boys操刀的制作好手Mario Caldato Jr掌舵，同样突破白金唱片认证。
2004年的巡回演唱会也被媒体誉为2004年夏天最成功巡回表演之一。
2005年《In Between Dreams》专辑，在没有商业广告的加持下，却在美国发行首周以23万张的惊人销售，空降全美告示牌专辑榜第2名；在乐评、乐迷、以及电台DJ的热情支持下，在发行不到2个月后，在全球默默卖出200万张。
