西方歌唱艺术，没有一套合集的地位能比的上 EMI的 The Record of Singing系列。
目前五套，共20CD：
Volume 1 (1899-1919),
Volume 2 (1914-1925),
Volume 3 (1926-1939),
Volume 4 (1939 to the end of the 78 era, circa 1955),
Volume 5 (From the LP to the digital era 1953-2007)。

EMI于 70年代发行过黑胶，后由TESTAMENT转发CD。现在这套是EMI的CD版。大概是因为那时候EMI快倒闭了，所以前四套被压缩成了一套象征着前黑胶年代。最后一套象征着后黑胶年代。
